Retired Plastic Surgeon Dr. Joel Roskind Will Instruct Class at Boston University
After a 30 year stint as a plastic surgeon, New York’s Joel Roskind now plans to extend his expertise to other doctors, both recognized and rising. Recognized doctors may do good from consulting with him in the areas of practice management and outpatient facility accreditation. On the clinical side, medical pupils at Boston University will have the opportunity to take Integrated Problems, a differential diagnosis class, from Joel Roskind.
Joel Roskind, who operated a Long Island plastic surgery clinic specializing in body enhancements for over a decade, brings a wealth of clinical know how as well as academic expertise, and know how in the business of medicine. He is also intensely involved in the area of practice management, which deals with hiring and training staff, setting up electronic systems and patient relations.
He then joined the U.S. Navy and served as part of a three-man plastic surgery team. During that time, he traveled to Mexico to do surgery on deprived children with congenital deformities. Also during that time, he began his lecturing occupation at the University of California, San Diego. He has gone on to advise at the Nassau University Medical Center, North Shore University Hospital, Cornell Medical School and the University Of Miami School Of Medicine. He will now be lecturing for the second time at Boston University School of Medicine.
Dr. Joel Roskind has always taken a broader view of the medical field, and has played an active role in both regulatory and business affairs. As skyrocketing health care costs gave rise to ambulatory and outpatient clinics, Joel Roskind MD became interested in patient safety in these clinics, an interest that finally led him to become an inspector for the American Association for Accreditation of Ambulatory Surgery Facilities (AAASF).
Making sure patients get the best possible care in the healthiest possible environment has been a priority for Dr. Joel Roskind throughout his medical work. Although he is retired from active practice, Dr. Joel Roskind is looking forward to continuing to contribute to the medical domain. In addition to instructing and advising, Dr. Joel Roskind also plans to pursue a long time personal interest in Judaic spirituality.
