Most of us know that in order to keep our teeth in tip top condition there is more to it than just cutting down on eating sweets and having one less sugar in our tea or coffee! There are steps that everyone can take to preserve their teeth and keep their smiles as bright as possible.
Brushing should be at the heart of everyone’s dental routine. Brushing in the morning and at night daily helps fight against plaque and stops cavities forming. Adding flossing and mouth wash to this routine only takes an additional couple of minutes and can make a big difference to your oral health. Mouth wash in particular helps keeps the overall health of your mouth in check, not just your teeth.
As well as brushing, flossing and using mouthwash, regular trips to the dentist, at least once every six months is also advisable. This will prevent any potential problems going undetected and stop them getting worse over time – catching dental problems early can save a lot of dental treatment later on.
Taking care of what you eat and drink will also ensure your teeth stay white and cut down on the chance of cavities forming. Avoiding fizzy drinks and sugary foods helps the teeth remain protected, as these drinks can wear the enamel down on the teeth which is their natural barrier and protection.
